Discussion Lists
The Pioneer Project (and its Mars Millennium Project segment) uses a system of email and web-based discussion lists to enhance the communication of its members and students, between their selves.
Our students are divided into three independent teams, that will build three distinct colonies in Mars. These teams are formed by Brazilians, Americans and both the nationalities, respectively.
Each of the teams uses a different discussion list. This way we can manage three different discussions, having a resource to observe the differences in on-line collaboration, and so on.
The Discussion Lists are hosted by eGroups.com, available online at http://www.egroups.com. On this website, once the user has registered and properly logged on, it is provided a web interface for all the eGroups service that you have signed on. And each service (list) has its on interface for several resources. Chat, Links database, Message Archive among others. The best way to know all of them is through browsing... We encourage anyone who is interested in learning to take a look.
Only students are allowed to post and to participate of the discussions using the eGroups lists. So, anyone who is not member of the project who tries to subscribe to the following lists will be banned. We encourage those who are not members of the project but who are interested in it to use our public forum to do that. Just go back one step and click on the link for our Forum. you will be welcome there.
These are the lists on eGroups.com for our students (a student is only allowed to be subscribed in a list - non-members will be banned):
| Brazilian Team | Bi-cultural Team | American Team |
| pioneer-br@egroups.com | pioneer-usbr@egroups.com | pioneer-us@egroups.com |
| Subscribe | Subscribe | Subscribe |
| Unsubscribe | Unsubscribe | Unsubscribe |
The first address of each column is used to post messages to the list. (Users can post through the web interface on http://www.egroups.com). As you can infer, the second and third links of each column are email addresses used to subscribe or unsubscribe to the lists. Send a blank message to the correct address to perform the necessary action.
